This year, we started a Pre-K music program at the Red Barn, something that has been sadly lacking in Amherst in the past. We are lucky to have Katie Barry teachingKindermusik and are starting with ages 3 to 5, hoping to add more.
I am also happy to announce that a group of Red Barn parents has formed a committee, the Friends of the Red Barn, to promote music in Amherst. Catherine Sanderson, a great supporter of Amherst education, has accepted my invitation to chair the board and you will be hearing more of our activities in behalf of Amherst area children’s music.

Kindermusik fosters the total development of young children through a combination of music and movement. Parents can participate in Kindermusik activities for a valuable learning experience for both the child and the parent or caregiver. Katie Barry says, "Teaching children through Kindermusik has allowed me to experience the joy of watching children learn and grow through music.
