The school district is collecting school supplies for Project Backpack through August 1st. Project Backpack provides backpacks of school supplies to qualifying families. Last year more than 400 backpacks were distributed.
Here is the supply list:
For pre-kindergarten through 5th grade: new backpacks,
spiral notebooks, erasers, two-pocket folders, glue sticks, markers,
crayons, pencils, pens (blue/black/red), colored pencils, pencil
sharpeners, pencil cases, bookmarks and rulers.
For grades six through 12: new backpacks, assignment pads, notebooks, loose leaf paper, two-pocket folders,
three-ring binders, three-ring pencil cases, highlighters, Post-it
notes, index cards, calculators (basic, scientific, or graphing), flash
drives, pens (blue/black/red), pencils and combination locks for
lockers.
People can drop supplies through August 1st at any of the following locations:
the Amherst Regional Family Center, 170 Chestnut St.
Jones Library
DeMaio Orthodontics, 23 Pray St.
Art Alive Amherst, 35 S. Pleasant St.
The ARPS Family Center will oversee backpack distribution Aug 11th and 12th at the Amherst Regional Middle School.
