If your child buys a school lunch, ask him or her about it at the end of the day. The lunch folks are very creative in making Trash Free Lunch Day work!
The weekend of April 17-18th several exciting earth-friendly events are going on in the area. First is the “2010 Franklin County Home Show and Green Fair” at the Franklin County Fairgrounds. Check out the Franklin County Home Show here for more information.
Closer to home, at Amherst College, the “Green Amherst Project” is organizing a celebration for Earth Day. Their Earth Day Celebration will be held on Sunday, April 18th at 2-5pm, out on the lawn by the Campus Center. It will be a free concert, open to all.
Finally, Saturday April 24th, is the first Annual Amherst Sustainability Festival. Come downtown from 10-4 to enjoy the festival. Families will find interesting activities at Kendrick Park, the Town Common and in between (participation in a local merchant green scavenger hunt could result in great prizes from Amherst businesses!). Face-painting, story-telling, and human gyroscope rides are free and the solar-powered sound stage will feature children’s theatre and music. Find more information in the Amherst Bulletin and on the Town of Amherst’s website in the coming weeks.
