Trash Free Lunch Day is Friday, April 16th

The Trash Free Challenge: Is Crocker Farm up to the Task?

The Third Annual Trash Free Lunch Day is Friday, April 16. Last year, our school produced less than ONE POUND of lunch time trash! Can we match or break that record?

In honor of the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day, we are again challenged to pack--and eat-- lunches that are completely trash-free. Whitsons Culinary Group will serve plastic and utensil-free meals in the cafeteria, and students bringing lunches from home are asked to make them trash-free (via use of reusable drink and food containers instead of disposable packaging). Our school’s composting program helps reduce trash generated, waxed paper (a sandwich bag replacement), paper bags and napkins, and the cafeteria’s cardboard trays (used periodically) are all compostable along with food scraps.
